Earthquake Evacuation Drill Held at Our University

A simultaneous earthquake evacuation drill was practised on October 23, 2024, following the training provided by the Istanbul Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate (AFAD) instructors within the scope of Disaster Awareness Training for our university students, academic and administrative staff. As the drill started with the sound of a siren, all participants took the "Drop-Cover-Hold" position and recreated the moment of the earthquake. After the tremor, emergency exit direction signs were followed and the assembly areas were reached and the instructions were put into practice.
After the buildings were evacuated, our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, General Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ferit Küçükay, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş and Secretary General Özgür Ali Şirin reviewed the precautions that could be taken against the earthquake at the Crisis Desk and evaluated the success of the drill.
